The Color is Back!

What color do you associate with weddings? If you said white, don’t worry — most of us think of it. Even though we come from different cultures that embrace the splendor of color, we're often exposed to the classic European-style wedding through social media, movies, music videos, and magazine illustrations. The good news? New trends are stepping outside the box, introducing bold, exciting colors. In one of our previous posts, we explored this trend. This time, let’s dive into how to incorporate color into your wedding while still keeping it stylish.

Makeup

Not the safest option, but definitely worth considering. Do you remember the 2016 cut-crease makeup style? It was incredibly colorful and beautiful, but also required some serious skill — not everyone could nail that perfect crease! While we’re not suggesting you revisit the 2010s (unless you’re a fan of glittery, Kesha-esque eyelids — in which case, go for it! We still think they look amazing), it's worth considering adding some color to your makeup. You can draw inspiration from Pat McGrath’s bold, eye-focused looks — she’s the best! If that feels too intense, try looking at early-2000s runway makeup. The Y2K aesthetic is still alive and well, and makeup artists back then weren’t restricted by the creative limitations of the late-2000s recession.

Accessories

If colorful makeup isn’t quite your thing, don’t worry — we have another option: accessories. This one’s less risky, but still a great way to add personal flair to your wedding look. Think colorful gloves, pumps, earrings, a veil, a rosette, a belt, or even tights. The combinations are endless! There are countless vendors who specialize in shoes, jewelry, and other accessories, offering an array of customizable options.

If bold colors still feel a bit too daring, you can opt for more understated metallics like silver or gold. You could even make metallics your wedding theme, tying everything together beautifully. If you're still nervous, ask your wedding party to incorporate your chosen color into their attire — it’s an easy way to tie the theme together. Pro tip: don’t be afraid to take risks! Your wedding is about you and your partner — it’s your moment. Be true to yourself and have fun with it.

Florals

Finally, the safest option — decor. If you want to stay within tradition but still add some personality to your celebration, colorful florals are the way to go. Think vibrant bouquets, backdrops, arches, and centerpieces. Many decor companies have an abundance of faux flowers in stock, and they can also connect you with trusted fresh flower suppliers to create a stunning display. Just keep your budget in mind, as rare flowers or unique color palettes might come with a higher price tag.

We’re seeing more and more brides incorporate color into their decor. Some go bold with yellow, orange, lime green, red, and purple, while others prefer to stick with a basic white-and-green palette, adding just a touch of color for flair. If you prefer the latter, consider soft shades like sage green, lilac, peach, off-white, or pastel pink. If you’re unsure about which color palette to choose, you can always draw inspiration from art books, magazines, or Pinterest. For those seeking avant-garde combinations, visit a color palette generator online and choose a primary color that feels right for you.

It’s clear that color is making a big return to weddings — and we’re here for it! Whether you embrace it through makeup, accessories, or florals, adding color to your wedding day is a fun and stylish way to express your personality. After all, your wedding is a celebration of you and your partner, and it should reflect your unique style. Embrace the bold and beautiful — because color is back, and it’s here to stay!
